Artquake marked thier 10th year anniversary and official release of their new album – Artwork/Alanta on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at K&G Events Center. It was fun and had a host of industry champions from different wings of play. The event was powered by City People Entertainment and AQ Multimedia, which is being managed by the duo.

ARTQUAKE stepped into the local music industry with their debut album titled ‘Never Ending’ in 1999, an album which did not make any impact or laudable sale. The album featured the single ‘Abule la wa’ which was the intro single into the main stream. Though the album did not do too well, but it served as a stepping stone ahead of their music career.

A song for the super eagles in 2002 became the knack that actually saw them as a group to reckon with. They moved on and met with Bayowa Films to do ‘Fuji Gyration’ along side Pasuma, Father U-Turn and Saidi Balogun; a move that did not bring as much money to their pocket but opened a door to American based record company ‘Little Fish Records’ in 2003.

A three years and two album deal was signed and they dropped a second but official debut album tagged ‘Shoe Get Size’ which had singles like “Shoe get size”, “Konko ja bele”, “Konko ja bele remix” featuring Ruggedman and “Ina Bante”. All of these songs enjoyed a lot of airplay and won them a basket full of fans across the country.
In 2004, Little Fish’s studio went ablaze, an incident that had them losing master tapes and recorded instrumentals. The inferno almost took Ice K and ADEX back to square one but according to them they faced the trial and had to move on. Further slacks here and there with Little Fish Records to which they would not voice out led to their eventual break off from the record company even without completing the initial deal of two albums under the label.

This time around, they are coming out with ‘GERMAN/GERMAN GYRATION’ under their own label K.I.P in collaboration with Reff Entertainment and AK Multimedia. This will be followed by the official launch of other album ‘ARTWORK/ALANTA’. According to Ice K “these album will stand their names”. They intend to show their fans what they’ve been cooking up in the past 5 years and according to ADEX “our fans will not help but eat this up”.

On the list of production of these albums are Abuja-based producer, Austillo alongside OJB, Puffy T, ID Cabassa, and Sheyman.

Jarmzone was there and we bring you a few clips from the event. We wish them many more fruitful years ahead.
