Club Rockaway sounds like the name of a club situated within one of the suburbs of Lagos but on the contrary, it is the name of an initiative, fashioned to bring interested Hiphop heads together at a night of lyrical spree, Rap, Emceeing, thought provoking wordplay, Spoken words, Graffiti, B-boying and turntable smashing. The October edition held at Capital City Nite Club – Oba Akran, Ikeja, Lagos was tagged “Music Na My Hustle”. The array of Hiphop ‘heads’ was led by Ibo Boy Illbliss alongside – Rooftop MCs, MTrill, Terry Tha Rapman, Teeto, Vector, Kel, Suspect, Elajoe, 5Mics, Fecko da Emcee, B’Elect, MI Fliss, Wordsmith, Kaliphate, AQ, DJ Spin’all, , Str8 Buttah, One Soul, Pherowshuz and a handful of Hiphop acts. A few good singers were also allowed in the mix as fans danced and bounced to the groove.

The November Edition will hold on Saturday 7 and has been labeled “Boys Are Not Smiling”. Leading the pack will be Tha Rapman himself, a.k.a Joe Spasm a.k.a Terry Tha Rapman to be supported by OD, Cartiar, Pherowshuz, SauceKid, Sound Sultan, Ruffman, KeL, Mode9, Stereo Man (Ekwe), Dagrin, Plumbline, Teeto, Wordsmith, Gino, 1Soul and PLus One. Other acts on the bill are Nyore (the female Reggae sensation of the moment), Fecko, Ice Prince, Eva, Mo’Cheddar, Knighthouse, Skales, Osagz, Dr.Quib, D’Supremes, HarriSong, Tha Faculty and many more. The venue remains Capital City Nite Club – Oba Akran, Ikeja from 10pm.

A Hiphop gathering cannot be complete without the DJ, and the list include DJs – Jimmy Jatt, X-Kris, Tronix, Spin’All, Gee Money, and X-eL. Hot steppers – Faith Legend Dance Crew will also be on ground to showcase their skills.

Club Rockaway is a monthly gig for Hiphop ‘Heads’ initiated by on air personality – Doctor Gee H.N.I.C. The stark Hiphop aficionado anchors the Rap Show on Eko FM and Club Train on Ray Power FM.

According to the organizers, free copies of the new Terry Tha Rapman’s Joe Spazm Mixtape will be signed out to the first 50 guests, while others can grab a copy for a token of N100. Also, lovely “Boys Are Not Smiling” inscribed T-shirts will be selling at the venue, so you may wanna come early.
