GOODBYE MOHITS, WELCOME MAVIN

Solar Plexus (Album Art)

So it’s official, Don Jazzy has finally launched his new label – Mavin Records. I have always known that he had something up his sleeves and it was only a matter of time for it to come to light.

The difference between former Mohits duo is that Don Jazzy is strategic while D’banj is spontaneous; so what we see today is not just a decision, it was planned out especially when both parties started having issues.

Mavin means somebody who is dazzlingly skilled in any field, and in this context, Don Jazzy is undoubtedly skilled as a producer and song writer. He may not be a great vocalist but he sure knows how to add flavour to the music… However, I don’t know how much of a businessman he is because understanding the business is very key in music but signing Tiwa Savage is a smart move and I think it will materialize bountifully in no time.

We can also see that a new compilation album, ‘SOLAR PLEXUS’ will be released tomorrow (May 8). Solar Plexus means any interwoven entity made up different elements in a structure. The word ‘Plexus’ is derived from a Latin word ‘Plectere’, which means to plait or braid.

We gathered that ‘Solar Plexus’ is a project like Mohit’s ‘CURRICULUM VITAE’, which seem to be Don Jazzy’s concept to introduce his artists especially in this new era. After the compilation album, the label will start pushing out new singles by D’Prince, Tiwa Savage and Dr. Sid while Wande Coal’s album will be the first solo album to be released.

There you go…It’s goodbye Mohits and welcome Mavin Records.
