When Hip Hop World kicked off the ‘London All White Party’ in 2005, critics thought it would be a one-off affair but ‘Hell No’ – it was just the beginning of one of the most anticipated party, scheduled to hold during the summer month of August.
The 2006 and 2007 editions recorded impressive turn-outs and the participants are still on déjà vu-mode. Last year’s (2008) edition was tagged ‘Hip Hop World Exclusive White Partea’ and was held in conjunction with Lipton tea and DJA Music.
The organizers have put in the best of heads and ideas to redefine the status Quo this year. This year’s edition is dedicated to the memory of music icon/legend Michael Jackson whose post humous birthday is on August 29. Holding it down in London at the moment is DJ Abass who’s playing R.S.V.P to the august event which will take place this August, Thursday 27 at the Steam Bar (Paddington Hilton). It’s a dare-to-miss-it-or-get-squared affair.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2008 EDITION
The event, as it has been from the start was championed by Smooth Promotions in conjunction with DJA music.
Guests turned up in white apparels, shoes, caps, and what-have-you. They converged at The Gems in The Britannia Hotel, in Canary Wharf, London. The hotel’s interior and exterior are laced with exquisite beauty, painstaking finishing and the service absolutely on-point. This was a major attraction for the finger itching paparazzi.
There was enough to eat and drink from wine, Champaign, Lipton tea, vodka, fruit drinks and spirits.
Guests came from cities outside London: Leicester, Manchester, etc, and they couldn’t stop talking about the white party.
The party was adorned with peops like Keke Ogungbe, D-One, 2face Idibia, Kween Onokala, Ayo Shonaiya, DJ Abass, Julius Agwu, Kunle Afolayan, Kingsley James, Kefee, Tonye Ibiama, Lexzy Doo, Mike Dada, Komo, Da Natives, Ronke Apampa, Ex-Queen Afrik and Tamilore Kuboye and a host of others. The stars glittered so much that Ray-Ban lenses were needed to save sights.
The occasion was also used to commemorate the first anniversary of urbane news and lifestyle TV show Hip on TV proudly represented by the producer, Joke Jaiyesimi.
There was an ice statue of Hip on TV inside the hall which was a major stunner for guests. The purpose-made ice statue was still standing, solid and strong, as guests left the party over six hours later.
WHAT DID GUESTS SAY ABOUT THE PARTY?
”It’s the first time I’m attending the exclusive white party, and I must say I’m blown off” – Tonye Ibiama (C.E.O, Grafton Records)
”Another great one. I’ve been attending this event since the first edition, and I must say it has grown tremendously” – Julius Agwu.
For first-timer Tosin and his fiancée Lola, ”We drove all the way to be here. And it’s more than worth all the trouble. So this is all the fun we’ve been missing?”
