Well, as it is in America and other western countries, stage names and monikers are the easiest identity of up and coming and established musicians. So, this final year student of Human Kinetics (University of Lagos) and potential star, named Adetunji Oluwole David is also known as DJ Klymax, (pronounced Cl-i-max).
From Ife, Osun State, born in Ibadan but raised in Lagos, DJ Klymax started music in church like most stars, playing musical instruments for his church. After a while, he started making music and writing his own songs but according to him, he maintained a low profile until Diji Amu – CEO of Mono Records, discovered him. “I produced the soundtrack for one of their shows called ‘Dance Fever’ and he was very impressed and offered to sign me on to his label and here am I today,” Klymax said.
He is debuting with two singles – “Shaye lo” featuring the impeccable but late rapper, Dagrin and “Olodo Master” featuring Isolate. In his words, “I was heartbroken, when it dawned on me that I can no longer shoot the video for “Shaye lo” with Dagrin… May his soul rest in peace”.
The title of his upcoming album is ‘SHAYE LO’ (Enjoy Your Life) and he chose the title in honour of Dagrin, whom he featured on same titled single. “He was my good friend, and my choice for this album title is borne out of my appreciation and love for him”, Klymax explains.
His type of music is best described as ‘Street Hop’ but he is inspired by Life, Rap music and activities around his environment. He idolizes DJ Khalid, Timberland, 2Face Idibia and Diji, his label boss. “I look up to these people for different reasons and I aspire to become a combination of all of them in the nearest future,” he adds.
Nigeria’s music industry should best look out for this talented artiste, songwriter and producer because his coming album depicts thus.
