MTV Networks Africa has unveiled its anticipated nominees list for the 2010 edition of her music awards tagged MAMA WITH ZAIN. Nigerian artistes – P-Square, Wande Coal, Tuface, Sasha, Banky W, Mo’Cheddah, D’banj and Nneka combines to make 13 nominations to place Nigeria at the top of the nominees’ list. Other African artistes like Jozi (South Africa), Fally Ipupa, Barbara Nanam (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Sardokie (Ghana) are also contending for the coveted MAMA.

A close look at the nominees’ list reveals that two new categories ‘Best Francophone’ and ‘Best Lusophone’ have been added to the list. According to Alex Okosi, “this year’s MAMA is even more representative of the growth of the Pan-African music scene and the added emphasis on Lusophone and Francophone artistes makes this the most exciting MAMA nominations race that we have seen so far”.
