Young, talented and buzzing rapper Jerriey has been making the rounds in the Nigerian Hip-Hop circuit for a while. We have his newest effort, which is a street-themed joint titled “Kpomo Men”, aptly followed by a viral video.
For the video, apart from Jerriey, I see guys trying really hard to fit into the video. And if you’re not the artist in focus, if you’re not a star cameo, if you’re not a dancer, and don’t know the lyrics of the song, then the video director (Prince Meyson) should not make it obvious. I see a guy (on the left) resting on a car with Jerriey waving his hand like he’s singing along but it is clear, he that he does not know the words of the song…why? I can also tell that DJ Garey needs to work on his stage craft.
I believe Jerriey is quite lucid with the flow but with no disrespect for the producer, I’m not keen on the beat. I feel this joint will do even better on a more groovy beat… use more percussions and balance the output with the vocals, such that, the instrumental can stand on its own… same way the rap can fit into another beat.
“Kpomo Men” features DJ Garey who is also credited for producing it. Both acts are backed by new label Goblin Records.
